US Navy digital signage
corporate communications display network
The US Navy has awarded over 15 contracts to Aerva to launch a base-wide network of digital displays for internal communications at a number of Naval facilities, including Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), Naval Surface Warfare Centers (NSWC), Naval Shipyards (NSY) as well as other maintenance facilities for employee communications. In total, 70,000 civilian and military personnel see digital screens and content managed by Aerva’s technology in 10 surface warfare centers (NSWC at Carderock, Corona, Dahlgren, Dam Neck, Indian Head, Panama City, Port Hueneme, PNBC as well as NSWC Headquarters), 2 undersea warfare centers (NUWC facilities at Newport in Rhode Island and Keyport in Washington), 3 shipyards (Portsmouth, Puget Sound, Norfolk) and 2 other Naval Maintenance groups (Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center, Naval Facilities Engineering Centers in San Diego).
In 2009, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard (PHNSY) in Hawaii awarded Aerva contracts for shipyard video information and digital signage system on a network of 46 inch LCD screens placed in public areas, cafeterias, mechanic sheds and other shipyard locations. Since then Aerva has been progressively deployed in many naval facilities including very large shipyards with over 5,000 personnel as well as much smaller support facilities.
The US Navy selected Aerva technology after multiple years of security and other due diligence. The Navy uses the video displays to communicate effectively with a variety of employees at all levels performing a number of activities. Multiple Navy content teams manage the warfare centers-wide or shipyards-wide content centrally via a web browser, with some individual department communications managed by departmental authorities. The Navy also licenses Aerva server technology that is integrated with the Navy’s security access cards called Common Access Cards and conforms to the Navy’s server, security and other technology requirements, making it an instance of on-premise, Aerva private cloud.
Aerva’s flagship product for digital signage, AerWave, is a powerful software platform that allows the creation of customized, interactive display networks all accessible via any browser and connected securely to servers. AerWave gives its customers like the US Navy total control over multiple warfare centers, shipyards and offices, departments and even projects and individual users’ the ability to manage content, schedule them in one or many screens, and display dynamic messaging like RSS, weather, or enterprise data. Thus Aerva enables the US Navy to manage an increasingly scalable, secure and robust network of screens at any location and in any country.
