Case Study: Fountain Square, Cincinnati, Ohio
The Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC) had the charter to revitalize Cincinnati’s downtown as the economic, cultural and civic heart of the city. A critical element of the $42 million revitalization was a complete facelift of Fountain Square, a city square and pedestrian zone.
3CDC wanted to make Fountain Square a welcoming and multi-use public venue. Thus they installed a large 42′ x 24′ LED display on top of the Macy’s department store building, which anchors the city backdrop to the square. 3CDC was looking for an all-encompassing software and network managemenet solution that allowed the LED board to be used in many different ways 24×7, for concerts, community messaging, advertising and also for fun and games.
In a competitive bid, 3CDC picked Aerva’s AerChannel technology to drive their outdoor LED display and has been using it successfully ever since its launch in October 2006.
Bill Donabedian, Managing Director of Fountain Square Management LLC stated, “Aerva provided us with the most powerful, flexible, and simplest to use solution available in the market. We are able to customize the use of the LED board to the multitude of events and programs that are slated for the Square. The LED board has become a landmark destination and serves as the showcase for the activities of our organization.”
Donabedian continued, “The Aerva team provided training to all our staff so that we are able to create our own content and run and manage the LED board on our own. It couldn’t be simpler.”
